Doris LaJune Pointer, a devoted mother, respected community leader, and cherished individual, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in Alexander, Arkansas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 16, 1958, in Hope, Arkansas, Doris’s life was marked by dedication to both her family and her community.

Doris was a proud graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) where she earned her Associate of Arts degree. She furthered her education by attending Henderson State University, embodying a lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth. Throughout her career, she held significant leadership roles including serving as President of the Women's Work and as district Ministers Wives President. Doris also retired from a distinguished tenure at AT&T and devoted part of her life to being a caretaker for special needs children within the Bryant school district, demonstrating her profound compassion and commitment to service.

Her legacy is tenderly held by her beloved husband of 38 years, Rev. Albert Pointer Jr., who stood by her side through all of life’s chapters. Together, they raised four sons: Dorian, Albert III, Terrion, and Albert IV. Doris’s family circle extended to her siblings Rita, Barbara Ann, Jerry, Raymond, Raynard, and Velma, all residing in California. She was revered in the community and among her peers, with cherished sisters in love including Birnether (Gary), Frances (Harold), Barbara (Wayne), as well as sisters-in-law Willie Mae Epps and Minnie Epps who provided her unyielding support and companionship.

Doris was predeceased by her daughter, Alquici, whose memory remains treasured by the family. She also mourned the loss of five brothers: Johnny Epps, Robert Epps, James Epps, Prentice Epps (Darlene), and Larry Epps. Her parents, Bruce Scroggins and Dover Lee Knox, were dear to her heart, and she was lovingly adopted and raised by Odie and Carra Draper, who nurtured her throughout her formative years.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor Doris’s life and legacy at a funeral service to be held on March 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at 15010 AR-365, Wrightsville, Arkansas. This occasion will serve as a testament to Doris’s profound impact on her family and all who knew her.

Doris LaJune Pointer’s life was a beacon of strength, love, and dedication. Though she passed away at a young age, her legacy endures in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched through her work and kindness. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were privileged to know her.
