LaVern Foster, a cherished member of the Little Rock community, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born on September 18, 1955, LaVern touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Known affectionately as "Granny" to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, LaVern embodied the essence of familial love and community care. She found great joy in church music, family gatherings, and dedicating herself to helping others, values that deeply defined her life and legacy.
LaVern’s family was the core of her existence. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Sonya Robinson and her husband Alvin, and her adopted daughter Erika Whitfield. She took immense pride in her grandchildren Brian, Brendon, Sha'Tony (Dakla), Tyrell, Bryan, and Anthony, as well as her special great granddaughter, Jalaya Silva. Her legacy extends even further through her sixteen other great grandchildren, all of whom felt the embrace of her nurturing soul.
Her journey was also marked by loss. She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Vernon Foster and Helen Lois Wilson, her brother James Foster, and her beloved granddaughter Sherylandra D. Ward. Their memories remain enshrined in the hearts of all who loved LaVern.
A memorial service to honor LaVern’s life and legacy will be held on May 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the American Family Funeral Home & Cremations located at 1527 E Broadway St, North Little Rock, Arkansas. This gathering will provide a time for family, friends, and community members to celebrate the extraordinary life of a woman who was truly a grandmother to all.
LaVern Foster leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and dedication to family and faith. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew her and loved her.
