Verdell McCraney

With deep respect and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Verdell McCraney, who departed this life on July 7, 2026, at the age of 82. Verdell was born on June 19, 1944, in Little Rock, where his journey through a long and meaningful life first began.

Verdell’s spirit was shaped by his roots in Little Rock and the guidance of his parents, Alfred McCraney and Susanna Hardaway, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his beloved sisters, Loretta Rudley, Earnestine Nixon, brothers; Leejeal McCraney, Alfred McCraney and Freeman McCraney whose memories remained close to his heart.

Throughout his life, Verdell was a devoted pillar of his family—a source of wisdom, strength, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on through those who survive him: his daughters Denisha Hall (Nikki) and Deljuana Hasan, and his son, Reginald McCraney Sr and his 3 living children. He also leaves behind his cherished son-in-law, Johnny Hall Sr., and a host of grandchildren who brought immense pride and joy into his life: Jakiyya Hall, Johnny Hall Jr., Calvin Gullett, Tamika Ziegler.

Verdell’s family was his greatest treasure.  He also shared deep bonds with his sisters, Francis Marshall (Landrum), Romie Terry (William), and Rita Nesby, each of whom will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A man of remarkable fortitude and compassion, Verdell touched the lives of all who knew him. His wisdom, kindness, and grace were constants that guided his loved ones through both joyful and challenging moments. He fostered strong family ties and created a welcoming home, where laughter, love, and tradition flourished.

The memory of Verdell McCraney will be a lasting source of inspiration to his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy endures—in the values he instilled, the kindness he displayed, and the family he so dearly cherished.
